I would like to thank Kathy Bulleri for the detailed Journal she kept while we were in China and all her time and effort she spent while we went over the photos and created the albums of our trip. In addition, Consuelo Stewart gets a big thanks for the help she gave me when I used Front Page to create this presentation. Thanks also goes to two student aides, Marty McGuire and Tricia Lewis who scanned all of the photographs and placed them on a disk.

The Trip Begins
We took off from Baltimore (BWI) on Wednesday, July 11,
2001 at 7 a.m. The sun was
just coming up but was hidden by the clouds.
The flight was not very crowded and we were able to spread out once the
plane took off. Flew most of the
time at 39,000 feet across the country and arrived in San Francisco for a
three-hour layover before we started our next leg of the trip.
We had to transfer our own luggage and check in, so that took up a little
of the time. Since it was noon,
“our time”, we had a light lunch.
Andy had his constitutional and then I took my turn.
After all that, it was time to board and cross the Pacific to
Narita/Tokyo, Japan. We flew at about 30,000 feet the whole time and we
could view our progress on the monitor at the front of the cabin.
It appears we will be eating constantly (2 meals) from the menu the flight attendant gave us. This flight also allowed us to spread out a little. We met Steve Klot, who had the seat next to mine, on this flight and he immediately commandeered the seats in the middle of the cabin. Andy went to the back and I had three seats to spread out on. We attempted to sleep after we ate lunch??, dinner?? Many people shut their shades to give the appearance of night in the cabin and make the body think it was time to sleep.
