Turnitin.com
Turnitin.com is an online tool for checking a student's paper for plagiarism. A student submits his paper online to turnitin.com and the paper is checked against every public website on the Internet (there are roughly 10 billion webpages). Any matches are detailed in a report along with the URL for where the matching text was found.
| How do I use it? In order to use turnitin.com you must register at their site and then join your division's HCC account. The FIRST document (to the right) will guide you through this process. To complete the above process you will need the account id and password. Please click below to request this information. NOTE: This password is for TEACHERS. Students should ask their teachers for the class password. More on Plagiarism An important item to note is that turnitin.com looks for matches on the web. It is still up to YOU to decide if something is plagiarism or not. Turnitin.com has put together a number of resources on plagiarism that you may want to check out (and even use) in your classroom.
