NEW FOR FALL 2004! Improved survey capability!

A new feature in NSS 7 is the ability to give a simple survey to all available students in the classroom. To begin this process simple click the Survey button,

A screen like this should come up:

To give a survey:

1. Type your question in the survey box labeled question.

2. Type the possible responses in the response box. Each response MUST be separated by a comma.

3. Press the button with clipboard and yellow arrow (above) to send the survey to student.

(Alternatively, you may choose a YES/NO, YES/NO/I DON'T KNOW, etc. survey by clicking the down arrow in the response box and picking the answer set that meets your needs.

Students will get your question on their screens automatically.

You may cancel the survey by click the button with the clipboard and red 'X.'

Survey results will show up automatically as the students respond. You will see who answered yes and no, but you can keep this from the students by simply not using the overhead LCD projector.

IMPORTANT CONSIDERATIONS when giving a survey:

The survey goes to ALL students connected to NSS in the room, which should be all computers in the room. Therefore, you won't get totals adding up to 100% if you have empty seats. You can remedy this by doing the following:

1. Click the survey tab.
2. Use the 'Get Names' feature to identify the people in the room. (see Get Names) Basically, just click Get Names and have the students respond.
3. Hold down 'Ctrl' on your keyboard and click only the people icons with names (while holding down 'Ctrl', let go of it when you've clicked all of your students).

Administer the survey as above.

IF you want to give an anonymous survey, then use 'Get Names' and have everyone give the same name (or an anonymous name).
