WRITING AND READING LABS
When students need computer access on campus to work on writing assignments, they have several options. The open Computer Lab is located on the first floor of the Learning Resource Center (LRC) Building in Room L180. All current HCC students are permitted to use the lab with a valid HCC Student ID Card. Individuals who wish to use the Computer Lab but who are not attending HCC or are not currently taking classes must purchase a Day Pass. Day Passes cost about $20 and may be purchased at the Cashier's Office. For the user's convenience, there is a vending machine located outside of the Computer Lab that contains formattted 3.5" diskettes, laser printer cards, and CD caddies.

ILB has an open English lab in ILB 210 that students may use during certain hours for computer time, assistance with writing assignments, and assistance with individual writing problems. Most reading and writing software can be found in any of the rooms.

Hours are subject to change. Students should check times by calling the English Division Office at 772-4440 or visit http://www.howardcc.edu/resources/openlabs.htm

THE LEARNING ASSISTANCE CENTER (LAC) (L-230)
The LAC provides academic support services to all credit students enrolled in the college who would like to become more successful and efficient learners. The LAC, located inside the library on the second floor of the Learning Resources Center Building, provides free group tutoring in most courses offered for students not qualified for the Student Support Services program. A drop-in tutoring service is scheduled and advertised each semester. The LAC conducts workshops on study skills, learning styles, time management, memory building, note-taking and test-taking. Drop-in help for writing assignments is available in the Write Room inside the LAC. Tutoring, writing, and study skills software is available for use on computers.
