ü      2 pages (5-7 paragraphs)

ü      Typed, double spaced

ü      12 pt. font

ü      MLA style heading

ü      MLA style citation

 

Purpose:

ü      To conduct simple research via website

ü      To formulate a thesis that signals reaction to a piece of  literature

ü      To support the thesis/reaction with specific detail

ü      To write an expository essay with developed paragraphs—including an introduction and conclusion—and correct sentences

ü      To practice MLA style citation

You will need a citation for the poem and a citation for the website

Prompt:

Read 6 poems by Marge Piercy pp. 181-186.

Choose the poem for which you feel the strongest reaction (positive or negative).

Formulate a thesis.

Read the brief bio. p. 180.
