Pry the door open
Kaisir Hsu
For a while I walked.
Listening to the honking horns
Of the city streets
The smell of Boardwalk Fries
From a distance confused itself
With the sewers’ stench
The city wasn’t the same anymore
I walked and for hours didn’t find
A place to lie comfortably
But the pigeons made me company
Flying and dodging the sky-high wires
That the city planted instead of trees
I walked into eternity….
For me and for the others I’m sure,
The shut door to their thoughts
are punctured in the blinking of their eyes.
Wake up and smell the breeze!!!
Your city lay in ruins!!!
